6) can i measure the cost of an appliance? Yes! Simply take the wireless display with you to the appliance. Note the cost reading. Then turn on the appliance, wait a few seconds, and see the new reading. The difference is the hourly cost of the appliance.
7) how do i install it (go to demo board)? Owl requires no electrical connections, but like anything working close to electrcity, we recommend that you seek a qualified person install the 2 clip-on sensors in your fuse panel. The transmitter and receiver are wireless. Please refer to the product documentation for details.
8) what is the range of the transmitter? The display can be anywhere in a single family home as large as 10,000 sq. Ft.
9) can i use it to check my utility bill? No. Utilities apply detailed calculations to meter data to arrive at the amount of electricity and cost which includes allocating system losses. Owl is an educational tool for the home that is extremely accurate for what it does.
10) can i set my electricity price? Yes. Ontario now has time prices that vary during the day. Owl can be set for all the prices of the day.
11) can owl alert me if i am using too much electricity? Yes. You can set an alarm for any level appropriate for your home.
