History

OWL’s patented technology technology pioneered real-time feedback electricity displays. It was invented in Australia in 1997 and marketed worldwide under the name cent@meter through 2006 and won international wards for innovation, design and consumer “best buys”. Today, Utilities around the world incorporate OWL into their electricity reduction consumer programs where retail competition and time-based rates were in effect. More than 600,000 OWLs have been sold worldwide since 2006.

Shaping Energy Consumer Behaviour

Real-time monitors give consumers the one missing piece of information they need to manage their energy; the actual cost of electricity in the home at any given moment. Waste (behavior) is the main driver of high consumption and independent research confirms that seeing the immediate financial impact of turning something off shapes a more energy conscious household.

With time-based rates introduced in June of 2011, Ontario, consumers really do need a tool to manage their utility bills.
